I’m going to be honest with you; this was a hard letter to write. Not because I don’t have anything to say, but because it feels like every time I reach out to you, it’s to ask for money.
Sitting on my desk are the grant applications for fiscal year 26. It’s not even the Fourth of July, and I’m already planning how we’ll fund another 12 months of vital services. So you can understand why I didn’t have another fundraising letter in me.
But this newsletter is full of important updates. The lead article, Hope. Healing. And What’s at Risk, is especially powerful. It’s a reminder of what’s on the line and how much agencies like FSC rely on the strength and generosity of our community to keep our doors open and services going.
This year, thanks to dedicated grant funding, we were finally able to create a resource that’s been on our wish list for years: Addressing Sexual Assault: A Guide for Friends and Family of Adult Survivors. When we released the domestic violence guide in 2021, it quickly became one of our most requested tools. We knew we needed a companion for sexual assault, and now it’s here. Even better, we’ll release a third guide on child sexual abuse later this fall.
And don’t miss the update from our Junior Board, who are planning this year’s Cookin’ on the Coosa. You might’ve noticed a name change and a twist. This year’s event won’t be a mac & cheese competition. Instead, chefs will be working with a surprise signature ingredient. I’ve been sworn to secrecy, but I promise it’ll be delicious.
