After a near three-year hiatus, the Ranch RoundUp roared back to life March 31 with food, frivolity, fantastic music, and the absolute perfect setting: The Kick Back Ranch. The event drew a crowd topping 200 and raised more than $65,000 for the Family Sunshine Center.
“Our mission is to provide hope and healing and a lot of people that the staff at the Family Sunshine Center encounter are broken and need for the staff to become that listening ear and to be that light in the darkness depending on what the client is dealing with,” LaShandra Warren-Barnes, Board Chair said. “It takes special people to work in a place where you never know what’s going to walk through the door.”
While the staff is essential to the Family Sunshine Center in fulfilling its mission, the sponsors – from year to year – are key to the program.
Along with the crowd, more than 40 business, nonprofits and individuals (including a number of first timers) chose to partner with the Family Sunshine Center as sponsors for the Ranch RoundUp and the various other events that pop up throughout 2022.
Warren-Barnes said: “Thank you so much for being our sponsors and for those who bought tickets and drawdown tickets. We know that someone is going to win $10,000 and they’ll want to donate it back to the Family Sunshine Center. We’ll gladly take it back.”
After 349 tickets were pulled one remained and walked away with the $10,000 prize.
Included in this year’s event were prize packages filled with donations from partners and businesses were sent from throughout the Great State (of Alabama) and a few others. These featuring prizes ranging from passes to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival to McWane Center Passes to Ricky Skaggs tickets to a chance to throw out the first pitch at a Biscuits baseball game.
