The Raggedy Ann Angels Ministries has supported the Family Sunshine Center for over 15 years, inspired by the heart of Dean Albritton and carried on by Coralie McDavid. As a timeless symbol of joy and happiness, the group desired to continue the tradition of the Raggedy Ann doll by providing each child that enters the Family Sunshine Center’s shelter with their very own doll. Each member of the Raggedy Ann Angels has a special job when making the dolls, whether it’s cutting fabric, stuffing material, painting faces and even stitching yarn for the hair. The dolls are created with lots of love and prayers and come in a variety of ethnicities and genders to bring feelings of hope and love to the children with the “sad eyes” of the Family Sunshine Center.
Each year, Coordinator, Coralie McDavid tells the story of the beloved Raggedy Ann Doll. This year was super special because along with Raggedy Ann being around for 106 years, Coralie celebrated her 95th Birthday doing what she loves and that’s remembering Raggedy Ann and keeping her magic alive. The Family Sunshine Center is thankful for the volunteer work of the Raggedy Ann Angels for their 15 years of uplifting our children and providing a magical way to spread hope and healing to our children who have little hearts but big possibilities.
