Montgomery, AL – The Family Sunshine Center today announced that Executive Director Tay Knight will be stepping down from her role after more than eight years of dedicated service leading the agency in its mission to provide hope and healing to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
During her tenure, Knight guided the Family Sunshine Center through both growth and challenges, always centering the needs of survivors. Under her leadership, FSC expanded outreach, strengthened community partnerships, and continued to provide critical services that empower survivors and their families to build safe, independent lives.
“Serving as Executive Director of the Family Sunshine Center has been the greatest privilege of my life,” said Tay Knight. “While it is with a heavy heart that I step down, I know this is the right time to make space for new leadership as the agency moves forward. I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful to the staff, board, and community partners who make this work possible.”
The Board of Directors expressed gratitude for Knight’s leadership and dedication. “On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are deeply grateful for Tay’s vision and tireless commitment,” said Gloria Dunn, President of the Board of Directors. “While we are saddened to see her step down, we support her decision and are confident that FSC’s talented staff and leadership team will continue to carry the mission forward.”
The Board has appointed Catherine Watts, current Deputy Director, to serve as interim Executive Director. Catherine brings deep knowledge of FSC’s programs and operations and will ensure a smooth transition during this period.
The Family Sunshine Center Board of Directors will begin the process of identifying new leadership and will provide updates as they are available. In the meantime, the agency remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted services for survivors and their families across the River Region.
